Pilgrim Eulogia Bottle with Menorah

A hexagonal glass ampulla manufactured in Jerusalem dating back to the early 7^th century, as Heraclius banished Jews from entering Jerusalem in 629 CE. The ampulla was used as a Eulogia either as memorabilia or for the special properties of its content. Where Christian Eulogiae contained either holy water or oil, Jewish Eulogiae mainly contained oil taken from holy places, such as the Western Wall or synagogues in Jerusalem. The production of such ampullae confirms that there were ample Jewish pilgrims in Jerusalem at that time.
