Pharaoh of Egypt Taharqa (Tirhakah)
The Bible records Sennacherib’s encounter with Egyptian Pharaoh Tirhakah in 2 Kings 19:9:
“But when he (Sennacharib) heard that it is said about King Tirhakah, the King of Cush, that he has come out to fight him…”
Tirhakah ruled over Egypt and the Kingdom of Cush in Nubia, also known as Ethiopia, what is now Sudan and southern Egypt.
