Becoming more and more frustrated with the Israelites’ discouraged attitude towards the giant spewing intimidating words at them, David approaches King Saul, offering to go up against the uncircumcised Philistine.Having run out of options and time, King Saul agrees, after David assures him that he has fought off the lion and the bear with his bare hands, whilst defending his flock. In true form, David first resets the narrative by Goliath, encouraging the Israelites by calling them the legions of the Living G-d. Refusing King Saul’s offer of his armour, David approaches the giant with merely his slingshot and five stones in his satchel that he collected from the brook nearby. 1 Samuel 17:49David put his hand into the bag; he took out a stone and slung it. It struck the Philistine in the forehead; the stone sank into his forehead, and he fell face down on the ground.
