2 Kings 17:1In the twelfth year of Ahaz king of Judah, Hoshea the son of Elah became king over Israel in Samaria and reigned nine years.
King Hoshea of Israel, ruled from 732-723 BCE and was the last King of the Northern kingdom. The Bible records:“King Shalmaneser (the fifth) of Assyria marched against him, and Hoshea became his vassal and paid him tribute.” 2 Kings 17:3
