Abraham also knew that there was a code of law.

Corresponding to this same time period, The Code of Hammurabi circa1772 BCE sites a law, numbered 196 saying:

“If a man destroys the eye of another man, they shall destroy his eye. “

This corresponds with a verse in Deuteronomy 19:21 of the Hebrew Bible:

"Thus you shall not show pity:  life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot."
