The Rijksmuseum is home to Rembrandt’s depiction of Jeremiah lamenting the destruction of Jerusalem. Despondently, with head in hands, the prophet weeps with Jerusalem burning in the background. His elbow rests on a large book which is inscribed 'Bibel' on the edge of the pages.
