Immigration from Baghdad and Maghreb

Read while you listen

There was a substantial addition to the Jewish population in the land after 943 CE due to a large Aliyah or Jewish immigration to Israel from Baghdad due to the internal wars and persecution.

Waves of Aliyah also came from the Maghreb, or Arab countries in North Africa.

A manuscript from the Cairo Geniza mentions the Maghribi colony in Jerusalem, where Isaac, the cantor and father of the Fas Family, settled.
