Pantaleon of Aveiro mentions ongoing prayer at the Tomb of Shmuel (Samuel)
Portuguese Franciscan friar and traveler Pantaleon of Aveiro, traveled the Land in 1563.
He writes in this book, “Itinerary of the Holy Land,” that the traditional burial place of Samuel the prophet is “the only place which the Jews who live in the Holy Land maintain by themselves.”
The Tomb of Samuel is situated on the highest mountain overlooking Jerusalem from the north.
